Antwerp

We didn't exactly go on holiday this year,
But my parents decided to go with me for a day to Antwerp.

Practically we just walked around in the city and we went to the museum.
Antwerp is much more beautiful then I thought.

I saw this cute little toy store, some of these toys seem very familiar to me as if my grandmother used them. How cute and vintage they are.

I really love these dolls, I just had to take one home

I really had a good time in Antwerp, I bought a Mr Rat pull-string doll. We went to the Museum of Fine Art (Schone Kunsten). I've seen quite some interesting painting, lots of Rubens of course, however they also had a large collection of modern art. I became very Impressed with James Ensor.
I've always had a thing for dolls, bears, toys and such but his paintings gives them a sort of dark and fearsome look. Ensor reminds me of the carnival in Venice
.

Ensor is as anyone who knows me well would have expected of me a painter of the nineteenth century.
This might need a little explaining for those who don't know me that well. The last two year I was trained for my final exams in art history and every two year they change the subject
. Our subject was the nineteenth century and while the whole class disliked this subject, well hated it really. I Soon learned I love the nineteenth century more than any other time in History. I found out every art style I care about is from this century (Oh it's not just paintings, also architecture, music, ballet, fashion I am one nineteenth century monster). So I made my last essay about the Victorian era (1837-1901), scored myself the highest marks on my final exam and started to notice when I feel drawn to an artist I can say that 90 % of the time he or she will be from the nineteenth century.

I had a great time

- 19th century doll loving monster over and out.
